Garage door opener systems must be maintained to provide smooth operation throughout the years.
One of the more difficult problems for do it yourselfers to diagnose is a worn cable pulley on an extension spring door.
Maybe the garage door opens halfway and either stops or closes.

One major cause of failure for garage doors using extension springs is that the pulleys wear out.
It s also possible that the circuit breaker fuse or gfci outlet powering the door opener circuit has tripped or burned.
Then within 30 seconds hold the button on your remote for three seconds or until garage door opener s lights flash or the led light on your opener blinks.
If you hear a scraping noise that could be a worn ball bearing is causing the pulley to grind the track angle.
If pressing the button on your garage door s remote control doesn t work check the batteries first.
Usually the ball bearings break down causing the pulley to scrape against the track angle or the rivets fail and the pulley splits as in the picture above causing the door cable to stick.
