This switch is usually a simply touch lever mounted on the end of the track near the motor unit and if it is too far away the motor will stop the door before it fully opens.
The up limit switch may need to be moved toward the motor unit.
Open up the case and look for a screw type track that moves when the opener runs.
The logic board receives and responds signals to any remote.
It goes partway down reverses direction and goes back up again.
Replace broken chain belts sprockets or pulleys.
Sometimes the limit switch is activated by the movement of a specially shaped nut traveling on this track.
The door should then lower easily and you can reconnect the opener.
The garage door can be operated manually by disconnecting the garage door opener from the door using the red pull cord.
If not re engage it.
When the garage door ascends correctly but stops short it is fully open these are the likely causes.

When the opener is activated the screw rotates causing the nut to move until it reaches the switch.
You push the button to close the garage door.
When the door is fully open use a mallet to lightly tap the bent side of the track back into alignment.
You might need to consider replacing it if your door is not working properly or you may purchase a new opener.
If the door is working properly it should be easy to lift by hand.
In order to fix this you ll want to make small changes to the close limit setting until the door opener knows to stop once the door has reached the floor.
Doing this can save you some amount of cash.
