Garage Door Opener Light Turns On By Itself

When you operate the garage door opener with the wall console or the garage door remote in your car the light turns on.

A nice little feature. Motion sensors were triggered. Here are a few reasons why your blue max lift master or other garage door opener light stays on longer than the usual time. It all depends on the configuration but you likely have a button that activates the door operator.

This feature comes on when the sensor detects movement. The door operator button is similar to a door bell. The button can easily get dirty and stuck in the pushed. The new opener has the safety beam just under knee height at the door and it has a motion sensor on the button pad.

Button button the spruce. Most openers come with motion sensors. A garage door opener operating on its own may be caused by several problems. According to the manual the light may come on if the beam at the door is not properly aligned.

Why the light stays on. Most models have an adjustable time delay that automatically turns the light off after 3 to 5 minutes. Just stepping into the garage from the house turns the light on in the garage. The light will come on any time someone walks in front of the beams.
